Applications are now open for the Skibbereen Urban Arts Project

A Skibbereen Arts Festival Fringe Event

Following the success of last year’s Laneways Arts Project, the Skibbereen Urban Arts Project returns for another bold and vibrant celebration of community, creativity, and place. This evolving initiative aims to transform overlooked spaces in Skibbereen into vibrant public artworks – bringing colour, culture, and storytelling to the town’s walls.

Last year’s event saw local artists reimagine a historic laneway through large-scale murals exploring themes of heritage, sustainability, West Cork Landscapes and identity. This year, a new location will come to life with striking new works by some of West Cork’s most exciting visual artists.

We are pleased to announce that this year we will be muralling Vickerys Lane, between O’Donovan’s Bookshop and Cleary’s Pharmacy. Steeped in rich history, we invite you to get creative in telling the stories of the two buildings framing the lane.

The Skibbereen Urban Arts Project is a fringe event of the Skibbereen Arts Festival and is made possible through the generous support of project sponsors, local creatives and the wider Skibbereen community. Special thanks goes to Sherry Fitzgerald O’Neill, Albany Fusion, Cleary’s Pharmacy, and O’Donovan’s Bookshop. We are still collecting sponsorship for this event, so please drop an email to katy.wareing@ludgate.ie if you would like to contribute!
